Privacy

This page covers nanoconsent.com and its language versions. It is written for reading, not for lawyers, and it describes what actually happens. Selling a cookie banner while running analytics behind a consent banner of our own would be the one thing this product exists to argue against.

Who is responsible

The controller is Bastinet, a Finnish company and the maker of nanoconsent.
Bastinet · Business ID 2492063-7 · Teknologiantie 18, 90590 Oulu, Finland · info@nanoconsent.com · +358 40 768 8088
There is no data protection officer; the company is small enough that the same person answers.

The order form

The form on the front page asks for your name, company, email, optionally the number of client sites, and a message. It sends one email to info@nanoconsent.com and stores the data nowhere else. It is used to answer you and to prepare an offer or an invoice, which under the GDPR is a contractual or pre-contractual purpose (Article 6(1)(b)) and, for general enquiries, our legitimate interest in answering them (Article 6(1)(f)). Messages are kept as long as the customer relationship needs them; invoicing data is kept the six years Finnish accounting law requires. Nothing is passed to anyone else and nothing is used for advertising.

The server log

The web server records every request: IP address, time, page, referring page and browser string. That is how a web server works, and the log is the only way to see that a page was served at all. It is kept on our own server in Finland for at most 12 months and is used for security and for counting visits. It is not combined with the form data.

Report links

When we measure a web agency's client sites and send the report, the report gets its own address of the form nanoconsent.com/r/<code>/. Because the address is unique, the server log shows whether that report was opened and which pages of it were read. We use this instead of a tracking pixel in the email, because a pixel reports back even when nobody opened anything. If you would rather we did not, say so in a reply and the report stays up without being counted.

Cookies on this site

The banner you see on the front page is the product itself. It stores one entry in your browser's local storage with your choice and the date, so that it does not ask again. That entry stays on your device; it is not sent anywhere, because the banner never contacts a server. There is no analytics on this site, no advertising and no third-party scripts. Even the fonts are served from our own server, so the page contacts no one but us.

Your rights

You have the right to see what we hold about you, to have it corrected, and to have it deleted where the law does not require us to keep it. Ask by email and you get an answer within a month, usually the same week. If you think we handle data wrongly, you can complain to the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi), or to the supervisory authority in your own country.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that matters, the date below changes with it. There is no version history worth keeping for a page this short: what it says is what is true today.
