Cookie consent in 2,903 bytes.
nanoconsent is a cookie consent banner for websites. It blocks scripts before they load, speaks Google Consent Mode v2, and never contacts a server — not even ours.
The banner on this page is the product. Clicking that button runs the same 2,903 bytes you would ship.
Agencies: one yearly licence, unlimited client sites, your name in the banner.
Cookiebot ships 113,994 bytes.
We ship 2,903.
Stop renting the banner on your own work.
Thirty client sites, thirty recurring invoices, and someone else's brand in the footer of every site you designed. You cannot stop paying, because the client's site would break. That is not a pricing problem. It is an ownership problem.
- Your name in the banner, not ours. White label is included, not an upsell.
- Nothing that can switch off. If the licence lapses, every banner you shipped keeps working. What stops is the updates and the monitoring — never the client's site.
- One licence covers every site you build — because there is no server to meter, and metering something that costs us nothing would be theatre.
€499 a year for unlimited sites. Monitoring is included on 25 of them — the banner itself has no limit. The same thirty sites cost €1,800 a year on CookieYes and €17,640 on Cookiebot.
A Cookiebot alternative that is 39× smaller
Fetched with curl, compressed with gzip -9, on 7 September 2026. The measurement script ships with the source, so you can re-run it and disagree with us in public.
Loader size is not stack size, and most comparisons quietly use the smaller one. iubenda's loader is 1,777 bytes — smaller than us. It then fetches a core file of over 100 KB, for 110,457 in total. Cookiebot's uc.js pulls an account-specific file behind it, 113,994 together. We measure what the visitor's browser actually downloads.
| Tool | gzip | Blocks scripts | Consent Mode v2 | Server calls |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| cookies-eu-banner | 1,078 | no | no | none |
| tinyconsent | 1,204 | no | no | none |
| nanoconsent | 2,903 | yes | yes | none |
| vanilla-cookieconsent | 15,498 | yes | no | none |
| iubenda | 110,457 | yes | yes | every page load |
| Cookiebot | 113,994 | yes | yes | every page load |
We are not the smallest. We are the smallest that actually blocks. Two tools above are lighter than nanoconsent, and neither stops a single script — they show a banner while Google Analytics loads behind it. That is the exact mistake that makes most free consent plugins unlawful. Among tools that genuinely block, the next one up is 5.2× our size and has no Consent Mode v2.
How to add a cookie banner to any site in three lines
Mark the scripts you want gated, and load the banner. There is no account, no API key, and no dashboard to log into.
<!-- 1. gate a script: type="text/plain" stops the browser loading it --> <script type="text/plain" data-nc="analytics" src="https://www.googletagmanager.com/gtag/js?id=G-XXXX"></script> <!-- 2. configure, in plain JavaScript --> <script>window.nanoconsent = { lang: 'en', categories: ['analytics','marketing'] }</script> <!-- 3. load it --> <script src="/nanoconsent.min.js"></script>
Blocks before it loads
A gated script is inert markup until consent is given. Nothing races, nothing fires early, and nothing needs a tag manager.
Consent Mode v2
Sends the six Google signals with wait_for_update, so Ads and Analytics behave correctly instead of guessing.
Reads the GPC signal
Global Privacy Control is legally binding in twelve US states as of January 2026. We honour it without asking, record the refusal as proof, and show “Opt-out signal honored” on the page — California requires that confirmation to be visible from 1 January 2026.
Accept and reject are equal
Same size, same colour, same row. Article 88a requires it, and France has already fined companies for getting it wrong.
Cookie consent pricing without a per-site subscription
The banner itself is never a subscription — there is no server to pay for. What an agency subscribes to is keeping it current: rule-pack updates as regulation moves in forty countries, and monitoring that catches what changes on client sites after launch.
- The complete banner, generic build
- Consent Mode v2, GPC, consent log
- EU rule pack
- Small credit line in the banner
- Build compiled for your domain
- Credit line removed
- Every jurisdiction
- Theme variables
- One site, paid once
- Unlimited client sites — no cap on the banner
- White label — your name in the banner
- Rule-pack updates as regulation changes
- Monitoring included on 25 of them
- Support
- Monthly cookie scan
- Alert on new tracking
- Evidence pack for audits
- 25 sites; each further 25 is another €29
Prices in EUR, excluding VAT. EU businesses with a VAT number pay net under reverse charge, and buyers outside the EU pay no EU VAT at all. Your card converts at its own rate — we add nothing to it.
What four years actually cost
| Tool | Per month | Four years |
|---|---|---|
| nanoconsent, one site | — | €39 |
| CookieYes, entry plan | €5 | €240 |
| iubenda, per site | €9 | €432 |
| Cookiebot, mid plan | €49 | €2,352 |
| Usercentrics, business | €199 | €9,552 |
And for an agency with thirty client sites
| Thirty sites on | Per year | Four years | In the footer |
|---|---|---|---|
| nanoconsent agency licence | €499 | €1,996 | your name |
| CookieYes, entry plan | €1,800 | €7,200 | theirs |
| iubenda, per site | €3,240 | €12,960 | theirs |
| Cookiebot, mid plan | €17,640 | €70,560 | theirs |
The banner runs on all thirty; the agency licence includes monitoring on 25 of them, and each further 25 sites is €29 a month — the same price as monitoring on its own. On every other row, monitoring is not a line item because it does not exist — nobody is checking whether those thirty setups are still correct.
The setup you ship is correct. It will not stay correct.
Nobody breaks a consent setup on purpose. A client installs a booking plugin, the plugin loads a tracker, and from that afternoon the cookie declaration is wrong and one script is no longer being blocked. The banner still looks fine. Nothing shows up in any dashboard, because nobody is looking.
One in three. In a sample of Finnish websites measured from the September 2026 web archive, 34 % were running analytics or advertising trackers with no consent tool present at all. Not misconfigured — absent. That is the state a site drifts towards when no one checks it.
The uncomfortable part for an agency is where that lands. You built the site. The client will not remember which plugin they installed in March, and the regulator will not care. Monitoring is not a feature of the banner. It is insurance on work that carries your name.
Monthly scan
Every site is loaded in a real browser once a month and every cookie and third-party request is recorded.
Alert on new tracking
When something appears that was not there last month, you hear about it from us — not from the client's lawyer.
Evidence pack
A dated record of what ran and what consent was asked for. This is the thing you actually need when someone asks.
Yours to resell
Agencies bill it on as a maintenance line. It costs €29 a month for 25 sites, which is about a euro per site.
The agency licence includes monitoring on 25 of your sites, all year — the banner itself has no site limit. Not as a bonus — because a licence that keeps the banner current and a service that tells you when a site drifts are the same job, and we would rather sell it as one thing than sell you the banner and hope you notice the rest.
Questions agencies ask before buying
Is there a site limit on the agency licence?
No. The agency licence covers every site you build and maintain for clients, with no cap. There is no server to meter, so a site limit would exist only to create an upsell. The one number you will see is 25 — that is how many sites the included monitoring covers, because monitoring is a service that runs on our server and does cost something. It is not a limit on the banner, and monitoring beyond 25 is €29 a month for each further 25 sites. Bundling nanoconsent into something you resell — a theme, a plugin, a platform — is a separate OEM licence.
What happens if I stop paying?
The banner keeps working. It never depended on a server, so there is nothing that can switch it off. The site licence is paid once. The agency licence is yearly, and when it lapses you stop receiving rule-pack updates, monitoring and support — every banner you have already shipped keeps running exactly as before.
Can I white label the cookie banner for my clients?
Yes. The agency licence removes our credit line and puts your name in the banner instead. White label is included in the €499 a year, not sold as an add-on.
How is it smaller than Cookiebot?
Because it has no back end. Cookiebot's loader fetches an account-specific file behind it — 113,994 bytes gzipped together. nanoconsent is 2,903 bytes and fetches nothing, because the configuration is compiled into the file at build time instead of downloaded on every page load. Measured 7 September 2026.
Does it support Google Consent Mode v2?
Yes. It sends all six Consent Mode v2 signals with wait_for_update, so Google Ads and Analytics receive the consent state instead of guessing at it. That is a different thing from being a Google-certified CMP, which is required only for publishers selling ad space through AdSense, Ad Manager or AdMob — not for advertisers buying ads for their own site.
Why does a consent tool need monitoring?
Because a correct setup stops being correct without anyone touching it. A client installs a plugin, the plugin adds a tracker, and from that day the cookie declaration is wrong and one script is no longer blocked. Nobody notices, because nobody is looking. Monitoring loads every site in a real browser once a month and tells you what changed.
Is nanoconsent GDPR compliant?
No cookie tool can promise that on its own, because compliance depends on how it is configured and what the site actually runs. What we provide is the mechanism: scripts blocked before they load, accept and reject buttons identical as Article 88a requires, consent logged, and the GPC signal honoured. Anyone promising you compliance in a product page is selling you something else.
Do I pay VAT, and can I pay in another currency?
Prices are in EUR and exclude VAT. An EU business with a valid VAT number pays net under the reverse charge mechanism, and a buyer outside the EU pays no EU VAT at all. There is no second currency: we are a Finnish company, the licence is a single payment, and your card converts at its own rate without anything added by us.
Does it work with WordPress?
Yes, and a plugin is in build. Until it ships, the three lines above work on any WordPress theme the same way they work on a hand-written page — there is nothing WordPress-specific about a script tag.
What nanoconsent is not
Not a certified Google CMP
Certification is required to sell ad space through AdSense, Ad Manager or AdMob. If you buy Google Ads for your own site, you need Consent Mode v2 signals — which is what this sends — and not certification.
Not legal advice
Compliance depends on how you configure it and what you actually run. We promise measurable things: size, blocking behaviour, and signals sent.
Not a dashboard
There is no login, no analytics on your visitors, and no account. If that is what you want, buy one of the tools in the table above — they are good at it.
